Privileged location and infrastructure attract investments
Organized growth with the assurance of quality of life is present in Uberaba. The city progresses rationally in all segments. The economy is stable and diversified. Businesses such as furniture, fertilizers, cosmetics, telecommunications, genetic engineer and others make Uberaba a worldwide reference.
A city with nearly 280 thousand inhabitants, it has a great ally in its strategic location (it is 500 km away from the main consumers in São Paulo, Brasília, Goiânia and Belo Horizonte and located in the region with the greatest GDP in Minas Gerais), being the leader in a regional market with 1 million and a half consumers. In spite of Uberaba's talent for agribusiness, it maintained the traditions and innovated them. Today it includes various industries from varied segments in the productive sectors.

Uberaba has thousands of companies of various sizes.
However, industry is the most dynamic economic sector, creating 50 thousand direct jobs. Fertilizers amount to nearly 40% because of Fosfertil, the larger producer of phosphate fertilizers in Latin America.
There are three Industrial Districts totaling 22 million square meters with complete infrastructure.

BiotechnologicalAs the largest producer of soybeans and corn in Minas Gerais, Uberaba is constantly conducting researches for new types of grains, which makes the cerrado region an important production center in the country. Half the domestic production of bovine semen is processed here in genetic enhancement companies. The Epamig and Embrapa biotechnological laboratories are located in the University Technological Park. Some soybean varieties were developed in Uberaba.
The "Conquista" type, the most planted in the country, was created by Embrapa and Epamig investors in town.

Furniture
The furniture business was boosted with the installation of Satipel. As a raw material supplier for the furniture industry, it made the sector take off. Furniture pieces of several kinds and materials produced in Uberaba are being exported to several countries.

Cosmetics
Cosmetics also occupy a prominent place. The production of beauty products is leading Uberaba to consolidate itself as a regional producer of cosmetics. The market is considered promising and has been growing, with products being exported to more than 40 countries.

Fertilizers
Uberaba has the largest fertilizer segment in Latin America, accounting for a third of the entire domestic production.

University
Uberaba is still a great university center, with nearly ten higher learning institutions, one of them on a city level (Faculdade de Educação de Uberaba – FEU) and two federal ones (FMTM – Faculdade de Medicina do Triângulo Mineiro and CEFET - Centro de Ensino e Formação Tecnológica).

Telecommunications
Telecommunications are one of the biggest development and support factor for any investment. This is a prominent feature in Uberaba, which is the first city in the backcountry of Minas Gerais and the fifth in Brazil in telecommunications density, where telephony is still in expansion and has a structure with ability to grow and meet any kind of demand. The city, including the industrial districts, has 100% digital network interconnected by optical fiber. Another important feature is the Embratel backbone. This means the city is integrated to the high speed data transmission circuit.
